PAINT & PHOTO TARPON SPRINGS APRIL 12 – 16, 2016 Paint & Photo Tarpon Springs is back for its 6th year. This is an open event where you can paint and photograph (judged separately) this Gulf coast Florida city, capturing its bayous, Sponge Docks, beaches, a Victorian downtown area, parks, lakes as well as our Brooker Creek Preserve. There is a fee of $35 to register. The work will remain up at the Heritage Museum for one full week following the main reception at the Museum on April 16. We will have $2400 in prize money and will also sponsor a Quick Draw event.
Paint & Photo Tarpon Springs 2016 – a plein air event- Sixty painters and photographers will be working out on location all over Tarpon Springs, including Brooker Creek Preserve, from April 13 thru noon April 16th. Check them out and be sure to see the end result of their work at the reception and sale on the 16th from 6 to 8 pm at the Heritage Museum, 100 Beekman Lane, on Spring Bayou. There will be awards and refreshments at no charge. Work that is finished early will be showing on Thursday, the 14th, and Friday, the 15th , at Tarapani’s Fine Art & Antiques, 128 E. Tarpon Ave., Tarpon Springs. There will be a “Quick Draw” event, when artists have a specific area to work and a two hour time limit, on Sunday, April 17, from 9 to 11am. It is an open event where anyone can register to participate. If you are not part of the Paint & Photo event, the cost is $10 to take part in it. Prizes will be awarded. The Heritage Museum is also the home of a wonderful exhibit of Christopher Still’s paintings as well as interesting artifacts from the very early Tarpon Springs settlers. The Paint & Photo Tarpon Springs 2016 exhibit will be in the Heritage Museum from April 17 thru April 22. The hours are from 11 to 4 daily. For more information, call 727-744-3323.
We will begin with a Welcoming Reception for artists only on Tuesday evening, April 12. On Tues. evening , Apr. 12th, 5 - 7PM, come to Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, 600 Klosterman Rd., Tarpon Springs. For the next 3 ½ days, until Saturday noon, you will paint or photo, with our big Public Reception and Sale on Saturday evening, April 16(6-8 PM).
QUICK DRAW The Tarpon Springs Art Association, as part of their Paint & Photo Tarpon Springs 2016, is hosting a Quick Draw event at Craig Park on Sunday, April 17, from 9 – 11am. This is where artists congregate in one area and paint a scene within the two hour limit. The work is then judged and prizes are awarded. The work is for sale. The public is invited to look on and watch the paintings develop. Artists who are participating in the Paint & Photo Tarpon Springs 2016 event will be painting at Craig Park for this and it is open to others who may want to try their hand at it. The cost is $10 for those not in the main event and registration is at Craig Park at 8:30am. APRIL 13 – 16 (til noon) – painting and photographing The “wet room” in Tarapani’s Fine Art & Antiques, 128 E. Tarpon Ave. (easiest access is by back door on Court Street) will be open Wednesday afternoon ‘til 5:00, Thursday 10 – 5, and Friday 10 – 5. This is for finished, framed & wired work only and pieces will be for sale. All works will be transported to the Heritage Museum on Saturday morning. Water and light refreshment will be available here for artists.
APRIL 16 – 11am to 12 noon – Get the framed & wired work you are entering for judging to the HeritageMuseum, 100 Beekman Lane (Craig Park), Tarpon Springs. Make sure we can check the back of your work for our stamp.
